Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 top run-getters and wicket-takers after Day 1 (Updated) ft. Anmolpreet Singh and Abhishek Porel

The 2024-25 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 got underway on Saturday, December 21, marking the start of an action-packed tournament. A total of 18 matches were played across five groups on the opening day, with 38 teams competing across different stadiums in India.

In Group A, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Jharkhand, and Goa emerged victorious in their opening encounters, defeating Manipur, Haryana, Assam, and Odisha, respectively. Uttarakhand lead the table following their dominant 182-run win over Manipur. In Group B, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Services, and Maharashtra claimed victories, defeating Rajasthan, Sikkim, Railways, and Meghalaya.

Punjab sit atop the Group C points table after their win against Arunachal Pradesh. Hyderabad, Karnataka, and Puducherry follow closely, each securing wins against Nagaland, Mumbai, and Saurashtra, respectively.

In Group D, all three matches were abandoned due to rain, resulting in no results for the teams involved. In Group E, Madhya Pradesh remain at the top after their victory over Bihar. Baroda and Bengal also secured wins, defeating Tripura and Delhi, respectively. Meanwhile, Kerala is yet to play their first match in the league.

Abishek Porel of Bengal leads the run chart with an impressive 170 runs at a strike rate of 130.76. Yuvraj Chaudhary follows closely in second place with 151 runs, maintaining a strike rate of 105.59. Just behind him in third position is Krishnan Shrijith, who scored 150 runs. Ashwin Hebbar of Andhra Pradesh occupies the fourth spot with 132 runs, while Kartik Sharma takes fifth place with 123 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 136.66.

Anmolpreet Singh and Urvil Patel are tied in the sixth and seventh positions, both with 115 runs. Shreyas Iyer, with 114 runs and a blistering strike rate of 207.27, takes the eighth position. Ankit Kalsi of Himachal Pradesh is in ninth place with 110 runs, and Virat Singh of Jharkhand rounds off the top 10 with 109 runs.

The top bowlers in the list have all claimed four wickets each, representing different states. Leading the chart is Amit Shukla, with an outstanding economy rate of 1.5. Following him are Vinay Galetiya and Rajneesh Gurbani, whose economy rates stand at 2.9 and 4.88, respectively. Mahesh Pitiya from Baroda boasts an impressive economy of 4.4, while Swarajeet Das of Meghalaya has an economy rate of 4.5.

Vinay Kumar from Andhra Pradesh has an excellent bowling average of 11.25 with four wickets to his name, and Imliwati Lemtur from Nagaland ranks seventh with a remarkable strike rate of 12.25. The table is rounded off by Aniket Choudhary, Arzan Nagwaswalla, and Mukesh Kumar, with economy rates of 4.9, 5.59, and 6.6, respectively.
