Virat Kohli breaks wall at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai during practice session ahead of IND vs BAN 2024 Tests

Team India superstar Virat Kohli broke a wall at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai during a practice session for the upcoming Bangladesh Test series on Sunday, September 15.

During his batting stint, Kohli smashed a big hit that struck the wall near one of the dressing rooms, leaving a massive oval-shaped hole on it. This was reported by host broadcaster Jio Cinema at the practice session at the ground.

India and Bangladesh will play two Tests at Chennai and Kanpur from September 19 to October 1. The hosts have won 11 of the 13 Tests between the sides with the other two ending in draws.

The last time the teams met in a Test series was in Bangladesh in 2022 with India securing a 2-0 win. Following the Tests, the sides will play three T20Is from October 6 to 12.

Meanwhile, Kohli was last seen in action during India's dismal ODI series in Sri Lanka in August. The 35-year-old had a forgettable series, scoring only 58 runs at an average of under 20 in three outings.

The Men in Blue suffered a 0-2 series defeat with the first ODI ending in a tie.

Virat Kohli boasts an outstanding Test record against Bangladesh at home

Virat Kohli will be looking forward to his Test return against Bangladesh after he missed the entire home Test series against England earlier this year. The champion batter boasts an excellent record against Bangladesh with an average of 54.62, including two centuries in six Tests.

Considering his average of under 15 in Tests in Bangladesh, Kohli's numbers at home against Bangladesh are stratospherically high. He has scored 378 in three home Tests against the Tigers at an average of almost 95 with a highest score of 204.

Kohli last played a Test match for India in the two-match series in South Africa that ended in a 1-1 draw.

Despite the series being played on challenging surfaces, Kohli averaged an impressive 43, including a crucial 46 in the first innings of the second Test that India won.

The veteran batter will be eying the 9,000-run mark in Tests during the upcoming Bangladesh series. Kohli is currently on 8,848 runs at an average of 49.15 in 113 games.
