Virat Kohli can play for India till 40 years of age: Sreesanth hails star batter for incredible fitness during 2023 World Cup
Former Indian pacer S Sreesanth doesn't feel the 2023 World Cup would be Virat Kohli's last because of the incredible fitness levels that the latter has been able to sustain for almost his entire career.
The World Cup winner shed light on just how fit Kohli has looked in the current World Cup, be it with his fielding or with his running between the wickets. The legendary batter already has 140 runs to his name in the tournament and has been dismissed just once.
Speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda, here's what Sreesanth had to say about Virat Kohli and the potential of him playing in the 2027 World Cup:
"He (Kohli) looks 25 yaar. The way he runs in the field and the energy that he has, he biologically looks like 25. He will play a lot more and while people question whether this will be Kohli's last World Cup, I feel he can still continue playing. If Dhoni bhai can play in the IPL till 42 almost then Kohli also can play for India till 40 years of age. He has the fitness for it too."
Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli can play in another World Cup: Sreesanth
Sreesanth also claimed that along with Virat Kohli, even Indian captain Rohit Sharma can play another ODI World Cup for India. However, the former pacer opined that the veteran opener might need to work on his fitness to be around playing international cricket until the age of 40.
On this, he stated:
"I feel both Rohit and Virat can play another World Cup. Virat can play rather easily, but Rohit, if he works on his fitness, he can do it too. He will surely keep performing. When you have such players, there's a saying called 'saat khoon maaf (laughs)'."
Rohit Sharma and Co. will now take on Pakistan in what promises to be an absolute humdinger in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14.
