Virat Kohli could join select list with hundred in BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

Virat Kohli has been going through a lean patch in Test cricket for a long time now, with just a few notable performances. In the second Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test in Adelaide, Kohli failed to dominate the pink ball, getting dismissed for scores of 7 and 11 in the two innings, respectively.

While the former Indian captain did slam an unbeaten century in the first Test in Perth, his poor showing in Adelaide has once again sparked concerns over his form in the longest format.

Heading into Brisbane for the third Test of the series, Virat Kohli will aim to bounce back and help India gain a 2-1 lead. The right-hander could also join a select list with a massive milestone opportunity on the cards at the Gabba.

Virat needs a Test century at the venue to match greats Sunil Gavaskar and Alastair Cook and become part of a select list. At present, Gavaskar and Cook hold the record for the only two visiting batters to have scored a century at all five major Test cricket venues in Australia.

These venues are Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, and Brisbane. Virat Kohli already has Test hundreds in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney. A century in Brisbane will help him complete the circuit and join Gavaskar and Cook on the select list.

What is Virat Kohli's Test record at the Gabba, Brisbane?

Virat Kohli eyes joining a select list with a century in the third BGT 2024-25 Test at the Gabba, Brisbane. But this would not be an easy task given his form and Test record at the venue.

Kohli has thrived in Australia and has scored plenty of runs across the nation. However, Brisbane is the only venue where Kohli does not have a successful Test record. He has played two innings here and has scores of 19 and 1 on the 2014/15 tour.

His poor record in Brisbane might be cause for concern. However, he will be expected to put the past behind him and come up with an impressive display in the third BGT 2024-25 Test.
