"Wait Karo dosto, iss baar bhi Script achchi hi hogi...."- Top 10 funny memes after rain washed out Day 1 of 1st India vs New Zealand 2024 Test
Rain played a spoilsport by washing out the play on the opening day of the first Test between India and New Zealand on Wednesday (October 16). The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is hosting the series opener.
Team India are coming into this series after whitewashing Bangladesh earlier this month, winning both matches comprehensively. On the contrary, New Zealand suffered a dismal clean sweep loss against Sri Lanka in an away two-match Test series last month.
Persistent showers throughout the day forced the officials to abandon the play on Wednesday around 3 PM. The match will commence 15 minutes early and end 15 minutes late on all the remaining days to compensate for the loss of time on opening day.
Fans were disappointed after not witnessing action on the opening day of the Test series between India and New Zealand. They expressed their reactions by sharing memes on social media platforms. Here are some of the best memes:
"We don't fear anyone"- India head coach Gautam Gambhir ahead of Test series vs New Zealand 2024
Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir recently opened up about the potential challenges his team might face against New Zealand in the Test series. He stated that they respect all the teams but don't fear anyone and are always up for a challenge. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the first Test, Gambhir said:
"New Zealand is a completely different challenge. We know that they're a very, very professional unit, they've got some really high quality players, they've got players who can hurt us, so we respect them, but we don't fear anyone. I've said it many times, that we will always respect every opposition, we want to be selfless, we want to be humble, we want to try and play the game as hard as possible on the cricket field."
Shedding light on the versatility of the current Indian Test side, the 43-year-old added:
"We want to be that team that can score 400 in one day and bat for two days to draw. And you call that growth, you call that adaptability, you call that test cricket. If you play the same way, then it's not growth. We have players who can score 400 or 450 runs in one day, and there are also players who can bat for two days, to draw the test match. And we want to play the same type of cricket. No other type of cricket."
