Team India's ace batter Virat Kohli enjoys a tremendous fan following and is one of the most popular sporting stars in the nation. The craze of the former India captain even led a 15-year-old boy to ride his cycle for 58 kilometres just to watch him play in the ongoing Kanpur Test against Bangladesh.
A video has gone viral on social media, in which a boy named Kartikeya disclosed that he started off his cycle journey at 4am from Unnao on Friday, September 27. He reached the Green Park Stadium at 11am.
He mentioned that he was a class 10th student and travelled such a long distance on a cycle just to watch Kohli play. You can watch the video of the young boy sharing details of his journey below:
Virat Kohli received a rousing response from fans in Kanpur on Day 1 of the second Test between India and Bangladesh. It is worth mentioning that a member of the ground staff was even seen touching Kohli's feet ahead of the toss.
"Every time he walks in, we expect him to score 100" - Parthiv Patel on fans' expectations from Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli failed to shine with the bat in the Test series opener against Bangladesh in Chennai. The right-handed batter registered scores of 6 and 17. Former India keeper Parthiv Patel recently spoke about how Kohli has to deal with the weight of expectations.
He emphasized that Kohli has set the bar so high that even a 70-run knock from him seems like a failed outing. Patel stated that people expeced the star batter to score a century every time he played. The cricketer-turned-commentator suggested that the likes of Joe Root and Kane Williamson cannot even think of the pressure the Indian batter feels.
Speaking ahead of the Kanpur Test, Patel was quoted as saying by India Today:
"I don't think he's (Virat Kohli) feeling that kind of pressure. And as you rightly mentioned that, I don't think Smith or Joe Root or Williamson can even think of the type of pressure he must be feeling. The pressure of expectation, that is huge. He has set his standard so high that even if he scores 60 or 70, that comes across as a failure. Because every time he walks in, we expect him to score 100. We expect him to play with that kind of intensity, which he has always been playing."
Meanwhile, India won the toss and chose to field first. Stumps were called early on the opening day due to rain. Bangladesh finished at 107/3 at stumps.
