[Watch] Abishek Porel departs after potential 'double play' by Ishan Kishan during DC vs MI IPL 2024 match

Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Abishek Porel perished while trying to up the ante against the Mumbai Indians (MI) during their IPL 2024 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, April 27.

After a sensational powerplay where Delhi scored 93 runs, they lost Jake Fraser-McGurk and MI gradually began to claw their way back into the game.

On a delivery from around the wicket from Mohammad Nabi, Porel danced down the track to get the big shot without getting to the pitch of the ball. The southpaw failed to get the contact he wanted, just getting an inside edge, which was easily gobbled up by wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan.

Here's a video of the dismissal:

It could have been a 'double play' as well as Abishek Porel was so down the track that he could have been stumped by Ishan. The southpaw scored 36 off 27 balls after being asked to open in the absence of Prithvi Shaw.

Jake Fraser-McGurk's destructive knock helps DC dominate MI bowlers

Australian prodigy Jake Fraser-McGurk once again showed what he is capable of with an incredible knock of 84 off just 27 balls. Right from ball one, he picked the bones out of MI's bowlers and not even Jasprit Bumrah was spared.

Abishek Porel was more or less a spectator at the other end as Fraser-McGurk smashed 11 fours and six maximums in his fabulous knock. The wickets of Fraser-McGurk, Porel, and Shai Hope did slow down the scoring a bit for DC, but Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs got a great partnership going.

Stubbs played an absolute blinder towards the end, chipping in with 48 (25), as DC posted a mind-boggling 257/4 in their 20 overs. The hosts are favorites to win the game, but MI will know that if PBKS can chase down 262, chasing it is not beyond the realms of impossible.
