[Watch] Adil Rashid cleans up Andre Russell cheaply with well-disguised googly in The Hundred
Adil Rashid took the prized wicket of Andre Russell with a brilliant googly in The Hundred Men's 2024 on Tuesday, August 13. Headingley in Leeds is hosting the game between London Spirit and Northern Superchargers.
The dismissal came off the 63rd delivery of London Spirit’s innings. Russell failed to pick up Rashid’s googly as he cleared his front leg for a big shot over wide long-on. The leg-spinner deceived him with a googly that crashed into the off-stump. The right-hander walked back for just three runs off nine balls, leaving his team in a spot of bother at 62-6.

Adil Rashid’s heroics help Northern Superchargers restrict London Spirit to 111 in The Hundred clash
A clinical bowling display from Adil Rashid helped Northern Superchargers restrict London Spirit to 111/8 in The Hundred on Tuesday. Rashid emerged as the pick of the bowlers, returning with exceptional figures of 3/16, while Reece Topley and Matthew Potts bagged two wickets apiece.
Ravi Bopara, Keaton Jennings, and Liam Dawson starred with the bat for the Spirit, scoring 31 (29), 30 (12), and 27* (19), respectively.
Rashid was delighted to be amongst the wickets while backing his team to win the contest. The 36-year-old said in the mid-match show (via Cricbuzz):
“I think we will take that, pretty happy to restrict. Looks like a good pitch. Nice to get a few wickets, the seamers upfront set the tone early. As a unit we bowled well which set it up for me and Santner. Always nice to get a wicket a wrong'un, either cutting or driving. Hopefully, we go in with nice intent and get this.”
Notably, the Superchargers have already booked a place in The Hundred knockouts with four wins in seven games. Meanwhile, the Spirit will hope to avoid a last-place finish with a win in their final league game.
