[Watch] Afghanistan take a brilliant review to dismiss Dimuth Karunaratne in AFG vs SL 2023 World Cup clash

Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi took a brilliant review to dismiss Sri Lanka's opener Dimuth Karunaratne in the 2023 World Cup match at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Monday, October 30.

The dismissal took place in the sixth over of Sri Lanka's innings. Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled a full-length ball that swung in towards the leg stump.

Karunaratne fell over in his stance as he attempted a flick but missed it completely. The ball hit the front pad and replays showed that the bat wasn't involved. The ball tracking technology showed that the ball would’ve crashed onto the leg stumps.

Karunaratne departed for 15 runs off 21 balls as Lanka lost their first wicket for 22, failing to make an impact on his 2023 World Cup debut.

Surprisingly, the 35-year-old was retained for the marquee ICC tournament despite managing just 53 runs in four games at the 2023 Asia Cup. However, he had amassed 369 runs in seven games during the ICC World Cup qualifier earlier this year.
