India A pacer Akash Deep cleaned up India B all-rounder Washington Sundar with a beautiful incoming delivery in the morning session of Day 4 of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 match. The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is hosting the clash.

Washington Sundar and R Sai Kishore began the final day for India B with the bat with an overnight score of 150/6. Sundar was the only recognized batter left for his side to help them set a decent target. However, the Tamil Nadu all-rounder could not deliver, as he only added three runs to his overnight tally before being castled out by a brilliant delivery from Akash Deep.

Sundar tried to push at the ball on the front foot, but it beat the inside edge and uprooted the stump.

Akash Deep picks up a 9-wicket haul in IND A vs IND B Duleep Trophy match to push his case for selection in upcoming Test series

Bengal pacer Akash Deep strengthened his case for a spot in the Indian Test squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh with a strong performance in the 2024 Duleep Trophy.

Turning up for the India A side, Akash scalped nine wickets across two innings against India B. He picked up four wickets in the first innings and then bettered it with a five-wicket haul in the second essay. He troubled the opposition batters with wonderful line and sideways movement, ending up as the standout bowler for his side.

He will now hope to get a chance in the Indian Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against Bangladesh at home. The 27-year-old pacer made his Test debut earlier this year during the Ranchi Test against England in February. Akash Deep impressed everyone with a three-wicket haul on Day 1 of the Test but did not get a chance to bowl in the second innings.
