[Watch] Akash Deep traps Devon Conway LBW to claim India’s 1st wicket on Day 1 of IND vs NZ 3rd Test 2024
Pacer Akash Deep claimed the first breakthrough for India on Day 1 of their ongoing third Test against New Zealand by dismissing Devon Conway LBW on Friday, November 1. The match is taking place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The dismissal occurred on the second ball of the fourth over of New Zealand’s innings. Bowling around the wicket, Akash Deep delivered a fuller ball that skidded off the pitch, beating Conway's inside edge and striking him on the back leg in front of the wicket.
The umpire quickly signaled out, but the Kiwi batter decided to challenge the call after consulting with captain and opening partner Tom Latham. Ball-tracking showed three reds, confirming that Akash Deep had given the hosts an early wicket.
Here’s a video of the dismissal:
The left-handed batter scored four runs off 11 balls, including one boundary. Conway's wicket left the Kiwis at 15 for one after 3.2 overs.
At the time of writing, the visitors were 27 for one after eight overs, with Latham (18) and Will Young (3) at the crease.
