Australia’s Alana King ran out Naomi Dattani with her quick thinking in The Hundred on Saturday, August 10. The Rose Bowl in Southampton hosted the game between Trent Rockets and Southern Brave.
The dismissal came off the 97th ball of Southern Brave’s run-chase. Alana bowled a full-length ball, and Dattani went for a shot towards the leg side, but the ball hit her pads and went towards the off-side. Alana quickly covered the ground and produced an underarm throw to find the batter short of her crease at the non-striker’s end.

Trent Rockets beat Southern Brave by 24 runs in The Hundred clash
A captain’s knock from Nat Sciver-Brunt helped Trent Rockets beat Southern Brave by 24 runs on Saturday.
Asked to bat first, Trent Rockets posted 155/7 in their allotted 100 balls. Nat Sciver-Brunt scored an unbeaten 60 runs off 37 balls with the help of one six and eight boundaries. Grace Scrivens also chipped in with 36 off 24 deliveries, comprising five boundaries. Natasha Wraith, Ashleigh Gardner, and Heather Graham were the other three batters to score in double digits.
Lauren Bell starred with the ball for Southern Brave, returning with figures of 3/36, while Lauren Cheatle, skipper Georgia Adams and Chloe Tryon bagged one apiece.
In response, the Southern Brave managed 131/6. Smriti Mandhana scored 42 off 27, a knock laced with seven boundaries. She also shared a 59-run partnership with Adams (27 off 29) for the third wicket after the Brave were reduced to 2-1. Chloe Tryon stayed unbeaten on 47 off 31, hitting two sixes and four boundaries, but failed to take the team over the line.
Alexa Stonehouse bagged two wickets for Trent Rockets, while Ashleigh Gardner and Heather Graham picked up two wickets apiece.
With the victory, Trent Rockets consolidated their fifth place in The Hundred points table. On the other hand, Southern Brave stayed rock bottom with a solitary win in seven games.
