[Watch] Andile Simelane traps Suryakumar Yadav for 4 to claim his first international wicket during RSA vs IND 2nd T20I 2024

South African pacer Andile Simelane dismissed Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav LBW to claim his maiden international wicket in the second game of the ongoing four-match T20I series on Sunday, November 10. The match is being played at St George's Park in Gqeberha.

The dismissal occurred on the final delivery of the fourth over of India's innings. Simelane bowled a full delivery on middle and leg. Suryakumar shuffled across early but was beaten as the ball struck his back foot, prompting the umpire to raise his finger without hesitation. The Indian skipper made four runs off nine balls. His wicket left India struggling at 15 for three after four overs.

This was the 21-year-old's first international wicket. Simelane made his debut in the series opener but went wicketless. Meanwhile, Suryakumar scored 21 runs off 17 balls in the first match of the series.


India lose three wickets in the powerplay in 2nd T20I against South Africa

The Proteas won the toss and opted to bowl first. Marco Jansen gave the hosts an early breakthrough, dismissing first-game centurion Sanju Samson for a duck off three balls. In the following over, Gerald Coetzee added to his tally, sending Abhishek Sharma back for four as the young batter continued to struggle with his form, having been dismissed for seven in the first game.

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav followed soon after, departing for four in the fourth over. Tilak Varma and Axar Patel then added 30 runs for the fourth wicket before the former was dismissed for a run-a-ball 20, with David Miller taking a stunning one-handed catch off Aiden Markram’s bowling.

At the time of writing, the visitors were 62 for four after 10 overs, with Axar (25) and Hardik Pandya (2) at the crease.

Meanwhile, India hold a 1-0 lead in the four-match series after securing a 61-run victory in the opening game.
