[Watch] Arshdeep Singh strikes 1st ball to dismiss Shayan Jahangir for a golden duck in IND vs USA 2024 T20 World CupĀ

Team India pacer Arshdeep Singh struck with the new ball right away after trapping Shayan Jahangir in front during the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup clash against the United States of America (USA). The match is being held at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday, June 12.

Arshdeep was handed the new ball, and the left-arm seamer got it to swing back into the right-hander. Jahangir could not negotiate the inswinger and was late in bringing his bat down. The ball struck straight on his front pad, resulting in an easy decision for the on-field umpire after a brief appeal by the fielding side.

Shayan Jahangir walked back to the pavilion without even considering a review. The replays showed that it was a plumb decision as India began the contest on a perfect note.

Coming fresh off bowling the decisive final over against Pakistan on Sunday, Arshdeep Singh has begun his spell on a bright note.

On the other hand, Jahangir had come into the playing XI in place of skipper Monank Patel, who is dealing with a niggle. The opening batter had only played one T20I to date, which came during the recent bilateral series against Bangladesh, during the build-up to the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Arshdeep Singh struck once again in his first over to dismiss Andries Gous

Arshdeep Singh wrapped up the first over in some style as he accounted for the second wicket of the innings as well. He troubled new batter Andries Gous straightway, almost executing a replica of the Jahangir dismissal. However, the ball struck the right-handed batter quite high on his pad.

After a couple of fidgety strokes, Gous tried to take on a length delivery with a pull shot. But he was undone by the extra bounce, causing the ball to take the top edge. Hardik Pandya claimed the comfortable catch to seal USA's early trouble.

Arshdeep bowled an excellent second over as well, conceding only a solitary run. His figures now read 2/4 after two overs while the USA are struggling to make an impression after scoring only eight runs off the first three overs.
