[Watch] Avesh Khan traps Sarfaraz Khan for 9 in the IND A vs IND B 2024 Duleep Trophy match

Sarfaraz Khan was trapped leg-before as Avesh Khan got his second wicket on Day 1 of the 2024 Duleep Trophy game between India A and India B on Thursday, September 5, at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The dismissal occurred on the first ball of the 33rd over. Avesh bowled a delivery that angled in from wide of the crease. Sarfaraz tried to clip it to the leg side but missed as the ball hit his pads. The umpire took no time in raising his finger. Sarfaraz opted for a review, but ball tracking showed the ball was clipping the stumps, confirming Avesh’s second wicket.

Sarfaraz Khan scored nine runs off 35 balls, with one boundary. His dismissal left India B at 67-3 after 32.1 overs.


India B loses half of their side for just 80 runs in Duleep Trophy game

India A won the toss and elected to bowl first. India B openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Abhimanyu Easwaran put on a 33-run partnership from 78 balls before Avesh Khan dismissed Easwaran for 13.

Jaiswal looked promising but was removed by Khaleel Ahmed after scoring 30 off 59 balls with six boundaries. Sarfaraz Khan struggled, managing just nine runs off 35 balls before falling to Avesh Khan.

Rishabh Pant, making his return to red-ball cricket, struck a boundary off his very first ball but was dismissed for just seven runs by Akash Deep, with a brilliant fielding effort from India A captain Shubman Gill.

Akash Deep then removed Nitish Reddy for a golden duck with a superb delivery on the very next ball, putting India A in a strong position.

Akash Deep and Avesh Khan have each taken two wickets, while Khaleel Ahmed has claimed one for India A.

At the time of writing, India B were 89-5 after 39 overs, with Musheer Khan (23) and Washington Sundar (0) at the crease.
