[Watch] Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi visit Shri Mahakaleshwar temple after IPL 2025 auction
Team India players Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi visited the Shri Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain after the IPL 2025 auction on Wednesday, November 26. The duo attended prayers along with the other devotees.
The visit comes weeks after the duo were retained by Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the auction. Axar and Bishnoi were retained by DC and LSG for INR 16.5 crore and INR 11 crore, respectively.
Here are a few pictures and videos shared by the official temple’s handle on Instagram:
Axar amassed 235 runs and picked up 11 wickets for the Capitals in the 2024 season. Meanwhile, Bishnoi scalped 10 wickets in 14 games at an economy rate of 8.77 for the Super Giants.
The two players have become a vital cog of India’s T20I setup following the 2024 T20 World Cup, especially Axar after Ravindra Jadeja retired from the T20I format after the ICC event.
Axar and Bishnoi were recently part of the four-match T20I series in South Africa, where India won 3-1 to complete a hat-trick of series wins under Suryakumar Yadav in the format. Axar and Bishnoi returned with five and three wickets, respectively. They will next be seen in action during the T20I series against England in January 2025.
“Both Axar Patel and KL Rahul are going to lead them” – Delhi Capitals co-owner on leadership role after IPL 2025 auction
Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal said that both KL Rahul and Axar Patel will take the leadership role in the IPL 2025 season. He said in a press release (via India Today):
“Both KL and Axar are going to lead them and are going to guide them.”
KL Rahul is the favorite to be named the captain, having led the Super Giants in the last three IPL seasons. Meanwhile, Axar Patel is likely to be his deputy.
The duo is likely to benefit from Faf du Plessis’ presence on the team. The latter had led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) over the last three seasons.
