[Watch] Axar Patel's one-handed screamer shocks Mitchell Marsh during IND vs AUS T20 World Cup match
Axar Patel produced a moment of brilliance in the field for India to bring his side back into the contest in the T20 World Cup Super Eight encounter against Australia in St. Lucia. Axar's one-handed stunner sent back the opposition captain Mitchell Marsh for 37 off 28 balls.
Kuldeep Yadav had built up the pressure in his second over and Marsh decided to go for a big shot to break the shackles. The Australian captain got in a great position to smack the final delivery of the over beyond the square leg boundary.
However, Axar Patel timed his jump to perfection in the deep and caught the bail with his outstretched right arm. Although he lost his balance, Axar ensured that he held onto the ball. Here's a video of the incredible catch:
Mitchell Marsh was understandably distraught as he trudged back to the pavilion. The partnership between him and Travis Head was reaching dangerous territory and the Men in Blue got a timely dismissal.
India need to apply the squeeze after Axar Patel's stunner
Despite Marsh's wicket, Australia have the platform that they needed after they lost David Warner in the very first over. Marsh and Head added 81 runs in eight overs and unleashed a counterattack that the Indian bowling hadn't seen so far.
Glenn Maxwell has walked out to bat and has continued at the tempo set by the previous partnership. The Aussies know that they have to win the game to have a better chance of qualifying and at the time of writing, need 78 runs from the final seven overs.
India have a couple of overs each of Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, which will likely come at the death. With Kuldeep Yadav having just one over left, Axar Patel will probably need to weave magic with the ball too.
