[Watch] Axar Patel suffers unfortunate run-out in IND vs SA 2024 2nd T20I

Team India all-rounder Axar Patel suffered an unfortunate run-out during the second T20I against South Africa in Gqeberha on Sunday (November 10). Nqabayomzi Peter struck at a vital stage to give the home side a crucial wicket.

The dismissal occurred in the 12th over of the innings as Hardik Pandya struck the ball straight back to the bowler. With Axar aiming to return to the crease at the non-striker's end on time, he failed to do it and it had touched the wrist-spinner's hand on its way to hitting the stumps.

Watch the dismissal here:

The left-hander had walked in at the fourth over of the innings when the Men in Blue had lost Suryakumar Yadav cheaply, with Andile Simelane claiming his maiden T20I scalp. The visitors also lost their openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma cheaply.

The southpaw had played a 21-ball 27 cameo, consisting of four boundaries before walking back.

While South Africa swapped Reeza Hendricks for Patrick Kruger in a bid to level the series, India remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue have managed only 124 on the board after the Proteas put them into bat in Gqeberha. Only Axar could play with a strike rate of over 120, while Hardik Pandya labored to an unbeaten 39 off 45 deliveries to help their side get to 124/6 in 20 overs.

Simelane, Peter, Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, and Aiden Markram all took one wicket apiece to complete a polished bowling performance. The similar bowling attack had conceded 203 in the opening game at the Kingsmead in Durban and eventually fell 61 runs short of India's total. With 125 as the target, the hosts will back themselves to level the series, with two matches to go in the series.
