[Watch] Azam Khan gets castled after being struck on the neck by a bouncer in CPL 2024

Guyana Amazon Warriors wicket-keeper batter Azam Khan was dismissed bizarrely during the thrilling 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) encounter against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. The Pakistan international was granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the tournament after the franchise retained him.

Azam walked in to bat at No. 5 in the run chase after the opposition put up 168 runs in the first innings. The right-handed batter struggled to get going initially, scoring only five runs off his first seven deliveries. He then hit a boundary off Shamar Springer to inject some momentum into his innings.

However, the bowler responded with a bouncer on the very next delivery. Azam Khan tried to pull it away to the leg side but missed contact altogether. The ball struck him straight on the side of his neck as he swiveled on the crease. The 26-year-old collapsed to the ground while the ball landed directly onto the stumps to end his innings. Have a look at the wicket right here:

Azam Khan's dismissal left the Guyana Amazon Warriors at 77-4 in the 12th over of the run chase. However, the franchise pulled off a heist on the back of cameos by Romario Shepherd and Dwaine Pretorius to win the match off the very last ball.

Azam Khan has been struggling for runs for a while now

The wicket-keeper batter has had a few tough months, with questions being raised about his fitness with each passing day. He had a decent Pakistan Super League (PSL) campaign for the champions Islamabad United and was selected for the Men in Green's tour of England and Ireland, as well as the 2024 T20 World Cup.

In national colors, he chipped in with a couple of cameos in the bilateral affairs but played only one match in Pakistan's World Cup campaign. He was dismissed for a duck in the Super Over loss to the United States of America (USA) and was not considered for selection again as the side were eliminated in the group stage itself.
