[Watch] Barry McCarthy cleans up Dion Myers with a peach during IRE vs ZIM Test match

Ireland fast bowler Barry McCarthy bowled a peach of a delivery to dismiss Dion Myers on the first day of a one-off Test match against Zimbabwe on Thursday, July 25, at Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast. This is the first time both teams are facing each other in a Test match.

On the third ball of the 39th over of the Zimbabwean innings, Barry McCarthy bowled a delivery from wide of the crease. The ball came angling in and moved a tad away as it beat the forward block by Dion Myers and clipped the top of the off-stump.

The right-handed batter only managed to score 10 runs off 24 balls. Myers’ wicket left his side at 121/2 after 38.3 overs.

Here’s the video of the dismissal:

At the time of writing, Zimbabwe are 153/3 after 50 overs, with Prince Masvaure (70 off 137 balls) and Sean Williams (8 off 8 balls) at the crease for the visitors.

Zimbabwe off to a decent start after being asked to bat first

After being invited to bat first, Zimbabwe openers Joylord Gumbie and Prince Masvaure stitched together a 97-run opening stand. Gumbie was unfortunate, as he missed a half-century; the right-handed batter was dismissed on 49 runs by Barry McCarthy.

Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine struggled at the crease and could only manage to score five runs off 32 runs before he lost his wicket to Craig Young.

Prince Masvaure has looked good and will be looking to play a big innings, with Sean Williams alongside him. For Ireland, Barry McCarthy has been the pick of the bowlers, taking two wickets.
