[Watch] "Bass ho gaya yaar" - Rohit Sharma's reply to fans missing him in T20Is

Team India opening batter Rohit Sharma was recently spotted in Abu Dhabi after guiding the side to a 2-0 Test series win over Bangladesh. As with any other place, he was swarmed by fans, with a few claiming that they miss The Hitman in national colors when it came to the shortest format of the game.

Sharma, the leading run-scorer in T20I history, made 159 appearances for India after making his debut in the 2007 T20 World Cup campaign. He evolved to become one of the most dangerous and prolific batters the format has seen at the international level. After playing eight editions of the World Cup, he stepped away from the format in June 2024.

After a fan admitted to missing Sharma in T20Is, the opener replied saying that he has played enough and it is time for others to have their chance.

"Dada, bahot miss kar rahe hai apko T20I mai (We are missing you in T20Is)," one fan said.
"Bass ho gaya yaar (I have played enough, man)," Rohit replied.

India have a plethora of opening batters ready to take over from Rohit Sharma, as the nation begins building a roadmap for the 2026 T20 World Cup. The likes of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Abhishek Sharma have made a serious case to be considered as the long-term T20I opener.

Rohit Sharma retired after the 2024 T20 World Cup campaign

Rohit Sharma guided India through the 2024 T20 World Cup campaign undefeated, and despite being more than capable of playing at the highest level, he chose to step away. He had confirmed his decision to retire during the post-tournament press conference, moments after Virat Kohli had made the same decision, in a bid to pave the way for the future generation.

India's recent tours of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka were the nation's first set of assignments in the post-Rohit era. The youngsters have performed well under new skipper Suryakumar Yadav but they will be tested in the near future with even tougher opponents and conditions in store.
