[Watch] Ben Dwarshuis’ massive 6 off Will Sutherland in BBL 2024-25 hits the roof at the SCG

Sydney Sixers player Ben Dwarshuis smoked a colossal 108-meter six off Melbourne Renegades' Will Sutherland in the second game of the Big Bash League 2024-25. The match was played on Monday, December 16, at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The moment occurred on the first ball of the 19th over of the Sixers' innings. Sutherland delivered a full ball on middle and leg, and Dwarshuis crouched low to powerfully strike it. The ball soared over deep mid-wicket, reaching the top of the Bill O'Reilly stand for a huge 108-meter six.

Here is a video of the massive hit:

Chasing a target of 170, the Sixers lost opener Josh Philippe (5) early. James Vince (40 off 29) and Jack Edwards (37 off 28) put on a solid 62-run partnership from 48 balls for the second wicket.

Despite losing Jordan Silk (2) and Joel Davies (10) cheaply, captain Moises Henriques took charge, attacking the bowlers from the other end.

Henriques played a match-winning knock, remaining unbeaten on 53 off 27 balls, with four boundaries and three sixes. Dwarshuis supported with a quick-fire 14* off six balls as the Sixers clinched the victory by five wickets with nine balls to spare.

Decent contributions from Tim Seifert and Will Sutherland help the Melbourne Renegades post a respectable total on the board

Sydney Sixers won the toss and elected to bowl. Renegades openers Jake Fraser-McGurk (21 off 12) and Josh Brown (22 off 10) provided brief but impactful cameos. While Tim Seifert worked to keep the scoreboard ticking, Melbourne lost Mackenzie Harvey (11), Laurie Evans (1), and Hassan Khan (6) cheaply, leaving them at 92 for five.

Seifert then teamed up with captain Will Sutherland to add 50 runs off 34 balls for the sixth wicket. The Kiwi batter finished with 55 off 42 balls, including six boundaries and one six, while Sutherland remained unbeaten on 36 off 28 balls. The Renegades ended their innings at 169-7 after 20 overs.
