[Watch] Ben Stokes left confused by Pakistan reporter's question in broken English during presser ahead of PAK vs ENG 2024 3rd Test
England captain Ben Stokes wore a confused expression after a Pakistan reporter asked him a question in broken English. The incident occurred during the press conference ahead of the third Test between England and Pakistan in Rawalpindi, beginning on October 24.
The reporter tried to ask whether England were aiming to score over 800 runs in Rawalpindi once again after doing so in the first innings of the opening Test in Multan (823/7 decl.). The 33-year-old, though, admitted to not have understood the question. The all-rounder apologized to the reporter and asked him to repeat the question.

The score of 823/7 was the fourth-highest total of Test cricket, headlined by Harry Brook's 317 and Joe Root's 262. Subsequently, Pakistan created an unwanted piece of history by becoming the first team to lose despite scoring 500 runs in their opening dig.
Ben Stokes ready to take up extra bowling workload in the series decider
Meanwhile, Stokes remains optimistic about bowling multiple spells in the series decider in Rawalpindi after putting in the hard yards. About the track, the seam-bowling all-rounder said it looks interesting and predicts to be good for batting for the first two days. He said, as quoted by BBC Sport:
"It was good to get through it. I have put myself through my paces at training, bowled two spells. Coming in and being one of only two seamers, I'm fully confident that I'll be able to get more out of myself this week than I did last week.
"There's not too much grass to hold everything together. It will be interesting to see how it goes. It will be a pretty good wicket for the first couple of days, at least."
Both England and Pakistan have announced three frontline spinners in their playing XI for the Rawalpindi Test. The tourists are chasing their second consecutive away Test series win over Pakistan.
