[Watch] Bizarre incident as bails remain intact despite the ball smashing onto the stumps in BBL
In a rare incident, the bails stayed intact despite the ball hammering into the stumps during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) clash between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat on Saturday, January 13.
The incident took place off the final ball of Scorchers’ innings. Paul Walter bowled a length ball and Nick Hobson attempted a big shot but ended up getting an inside edge onto the leg stump. To everyone’s surprise, the bails didn’t come off and the batters completed a quick single.
Sharing the clip, BBL’s official handle on X captioned the post:
“How has that happened? The ball smashed into the ‘Electra Stumps,’ but the bails didn’t move.”

Meanwhile, Conolly and Evans also chipped in with scores of 35 (25) and 26 (22), respectively.
Michael Neser emerged as the pick of the bowlers for Brisbane Heat, returning with figures of 2/21, while Xavier Barlett, Spencer Johnson, Matthew Kuhnemann, and Paul Walter bagged one wicket apiece.
In response, the Brisbane Heat were 67/2 after 10 overs, with Jimmy Pierson (28 off 25) and Matt Renshaw at the crease.

Brisbane Heat are placed atop the BBL points table with seven wins in nine games. With that, they have also secured a berth for the knockout stage. On the other hand, Scorchers are third with five wins in eight games. A win would help them qualify for the final four spots.
