Chris Jordan took a screamer of a catch off his own bowling to dismiss Kyle Mayers in the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad hosted the match between Trinbago Knight Riders and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Sunday, September 22.
The dismissal came in the 11th over of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ innings. Jordan bowled a length ball and Mayers played it back to the bowler as the ball hit the top of the bat. The Englishman showed quick reflexes, diving to his right to complete the stunning catch. Mayers departed for 60 runs off 30 balls, a knock laced with three sixes and eight boundaries.

A clinical batting display from Nicholas Pooran and Jason Roy helped Trinbago Knight Riders beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by seven wickets in the CPL 2024 encounter.
Batting first, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots put up 193/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Skipper Andre Fletcher missed out on a well-deserved century, scoring 93 runs off 61 balls, a knock laced with six maximums and four boundaries. Mayers smashed a quickfire 60 off 30 deliveries. The duo put on a 99-run partnership for the second wicket.
Apart from Chris Jordan, Akeal Hosein and Jayden Seals bagged one wicket apiece for the Knight Riders.
Batting second, TKR achieved the target with nine balls to spare. Nicholas Pooran starred with the bat, scoring 93 off just 43, hitting seven sixes and six boundaries. Jason Roy also slammed 64 off 34, comprising four sixes and six boundaries. Kyle Mayers, Anrich Nortje, and Tabraiz Shamsi bagged one wicket apiece for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
With the victory, the Knight Riders have qualified for the CPL 2024 playoffs. They are currently fourth in the points table with five wins in seven games.
The Kieron Pollard-led side will play their next three league games against St Lucia Kings, Barbados Royals, and Guyana Amazon Warriors on September 24, 26, and 29, respectively.
On the other hand, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have lost nine games in a row after winning their opening game of the CPL 2024 season.
