[Watch] Chris Woakes dents West Indies’ 385-run chase with double strike by dismissing openers in ENG vs WI 2nd Test

Chris Woakes struck twice to put his team in pole position on Day 4 of the second Test between England and West Indies at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Sunday, July 21. The pacer dismissed both openers, Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis, caught behind by wicketkeeper Jamie Smith in similar fashion.

The breakthrough came after the duo shared a 61-run partnership for the opening wicket in the fourth innings. The Windies are chasing a mammoth 385-run target to level the test series 1-1.

The dismissals took place in the 14th and 16th overs of WI’s fourth innings. In the 14th over, Woakes bowled a length ball outside off that wobbled away as Louis tried to push at it only to get an edge that carried to the keeper. Louis walked back for 17 runs off 40 balls.

In his next over, Woakes bowled a similar delivery in the corridor of uncertainty, which moved away and induced an edge before the keeper took a regulation catch.
