[Watch] Chris Woakes sends stumps cartwheeling as Abdullah Shafique goes for golden duck in PAK vs ENG 2024 1st Test
England seamer Chris Woakes left opener Abdullah Shafique stunned with a first-ball wicket on Day 4 of the opening Test against Pakistan in Multan on Thursday, October 10. The 35-year-old sent the right-hander's off-stump cartwheeling as the tourists made a dreamy start with the ball after piling on 823 for seven declared.
Shafique, who scored a hundred in the first innings, played all around a full delivery to send the Englishmen into a frenzy.
The 24-year-old was one of the three centurions along with Shan Masood and Salman Ali Agha as Pakistan made 556 after winning the toss. He also shared a 253-run partnership with his captain to set a solid foundation for the home side.

Meanwhile, England made Pakistan's bowling unit toil for 150 overs as Harry Brook top-scored with 317, followed by Joe Root's 262. The duo stitched a record partnership of 454 off 522 deliveries, with the tourists finishing with a lead of 267.
The visitors ended Day 3 on 492 for three, with Joe Root unbeaten on 176 and Brook on 141. Brook also became the sixth England batter to hit a triple-hundred. Naseem Shah and Saim Ayub finished with a couple of wickets each, while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Aamer Jamal, and Salman Agha scalped one apiece.
With the surface playing a few tricks and Pakistan vulnerable in the third innings, England will hope to force a victory. They had routed Pakistan 3-0 two years ago in their backyard under the leadership of Ben Stokes.
Pakistan are under intense pressure, having suffered a 2-0 loss at home against Bangladesh. Masood, who succeeded Babar Azam as captain, is winless in five Tests.
