Comedy of errors as Annerie Dercksen gets run out after catch drop from Jemimah Rodrigues in IND-W vs SA-W 1st ODI

Annerie Dercksen fell prey to a poor call as she was run out following a dropped catch from Jemimah Rodrigues during the first ODI between India Women (IND-W) and South Africa Women (SA-W). The match was played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday (June 16). Dercksen perished for just one run off 12 balls to leave the Proteas reeling at 74-5 in a 266-run chase.

The dismissal came in the 24th over of SA-W’s chase. Asha Sobhana bowled a tossed-up delivery and Dercksen played across the line but ended up with a thick outside edge that looped to Jemimah at the backward point.

Jemimah dropped a dolly but made up for it by quickly throwing it to wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh, who removed the bails in a flash, leading to the wicket. Dercksen was looking for a run but was sent back by her partner Sune Luus. She wasn’t even in the frame as the throw came to Ghosh.
