[Watch] Commentators' curse strikes as Virat Kohli gets LBW for 17 in 359-run chase during 2024 IND vs NZ 2nd Test
Virat Kohli failed to deliver with the bat again in the second innings of the ongoing second Test between India and New Zealand at the MCA Stadium in Pune. He was dismissed LBW for 17 runs off 40 balls by Mitchell Santner. The dismissal came immediately after on-air commentators Ian Smith, Sunil Gavaskar, and Ravi Shastri lauded Kohli’s past performances when he helped India chase over 300+ scores.
Gavaskar pointed out Kohli’s two tons and three half-centuries for India while chasing over 300 runs. The former India captain added that Kohli was aware how to chase big scores and it was up to Washington Sundar and Sarfaraz Khan to help him. As Smith spoke about the relevance of Kohli’s wicket for both teams, the senior batter was dismissed off the next delivery.
The dismissal came in the 30th over of India’s second innings. Santner bowled a length ball that skidded after pitching. The arm ball slid and hit Kohli on the back pad and he was struck in front of the leg stump. The on-field umpire adjudged it out and Kohli reviewed, but it returned an umpire’s call on wickets. The replays showed the ball would’ve hit the leg stump.
