[Watch] Dan Mousley takes a stunning catch by the boundary during Birmingham's win over London in The Hundred 2024

Emerging England player Dan Mousley took a spectacular catch to dismiss Adam Rossington in Birmingham Phoenix's nervy win over the London Spirit in The Hundred 2024. He took the catch during the early stages of the contest at the Lord's on Saturday, July 27.

After putting the London Spirit into bat first, Birmingham Phoenix made a commanding start with the ball. The hosts were reduced to 28-2 after 21 deliveries, and it soon worsened to 30-5 as Sean Abbott struck four times in his first set itself. One of the dismissals during the collapse was opening batter Adam Rossington's, with the majority of credit going to Mousley.

Rossington whipped a full delivery on the leg stump line towards deep square leg, trying to clear the fielder. Mousley judged the trajectory of the ball extremely well, and took the catch side-on, right on the boundary line, anticipating that he would have to cross the rope.

Mousley let go of the ball before crossing the rope but made things tougher for himself by throwing it a bit too far. However, he managed to make the recovery and put in a full-length dive after making it back on the outfield to complete the catch.

Mousley played a crucial knock in the low-scoring thriller

After a strong start with the ball, Birmingham Phoenix had a say in the proceedings. Cameos from Liam Dawson and Andre Russell took the London Spirit to 127-7 at the end of the first innings.

The Moeen Ali-led side also faced an early collapse with the bat and were reduced to 20-4 when Mousley came to the middle. He forged a crucial partnership with Jacob Bethell for the fifth wicket before being dismissed by Olly Stone.

He scored 39 runs off 38 deliveries while a Benny Howell cameo in the end helped the Birmingham Phoenix chase down the score with a ball to spare.
