[Watch] Deandra Dottin finishes off with a maximum as West Indies beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup

All-rounder Deandra Dottin secured the victory for West Indies against Bangladesh with a six in the 13th match of the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup. The game was held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE on Thursday, October 10.

Bangladeshi leg-spinner Rabeya Khan delivered a full ball outside off stump on the fifth delivery of the 13th over. Dottin stepped across and executed a slog sweep, sending the ball for a six over deep mid-wicket, helping the West Indies secure a convincing victory by eight wickets with 43 balls to spare. They are now placed at the top of the Group B points table.

Chasing 104, West Indies openers Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor added 52 runs for the first wicket in 45 balls. Matthews was dismissed for 34 runs off 22 balls, hitting six boundaries, while Taylor retired hurt on 27 runs off 29 balls due to a knee problem.

Shemaine Campbelle made a swift contribution of 21 runs off 16 balls. Dottin sealed the win for her team, finishing unbeaten on 19 runs off seven balls, featuring one four and two sixes.


Karishma Ramharack excels with the ball for the West Indies

West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl first. Karishma Ramharack provided the initial breakthrough, dismissing Shathi Rani for nine in the fourth over. The off-spinner then cleaned up Dilara Akter for 19, securing her second wicket.

Sobhana Mostary and captain Nigar Sultana added 40 runs off 43 balls for the third wicket. The former contributed 16 runs while Sultana scored 39 off 44 balls, including four boundaries.

The West Indies bowlers excelled in the later stages, as Bangladesh collapsed from 73/2 to 100/8. They ended their innings at 103/8 in 20 overs. Ramharack was the standout bowler for West Indies, taking four wickets, while Afy Fletcher claimed two.
