[Watch] Deepti Sharma cleans up Sidra Ameen after getting hit for a boundary in IND vs PAK 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup clash

Deepti Sharma fought back to dismiss Sidra Ameen after getting hit for a boundary in the Women’s T20 World Cup game between India and Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday, October 6. Amin walked back for just eight runs off 11 balls as the Women in Green lost their second wicket inside the powerplay.

The dismissal came in the fifth over of Pakistan’s innings. Deepti bowled a tossed-up delivery that spun in from off. Sidra shuffled in to play back-to-back sweep shots but only managed a deflection from her glove onto the body and then to the leg stump. The right-hander looked livid with herself as she walked back to the pavilion. Deepti took her first wicket in the World Cup after returning wicketless against New Zealand.

India dominate Pakistan in Women’s T20 World Cup clash

A clinical bowling display helped India dominate Pakistan in the Women’s T20 World Cup clash. Apart from Deepti Sharma, Shreyanka Patil, Renuka Singh, and Arundhati Reddy also bagged one wicket each after 10 overs.

At the time of writing, Pakistan were 41/4 after 10 overs, with Nida Dar and Aliya Riaz at the crease.

India are without the services of Pooja Vastrakar, who sustained an injury. Sajeevan Sajana has replaced her in the XI. On the other hand, Pakistan have also made a solitary change as Syeda Arooba Shah replaced Diana Baig.

The two teams are coming on the back of contrasting performances in their opening game of the campaign. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side lost to New Zealand by 58 runs, while Fatima Sana’s Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 31 runs.

The Women in Blue, however, enjoy a 5-2 record in head-to-head contests against Pakistan in the Women’s T20 World Cup. India beat the Women in Green by seven wickets in their last meeting at the 2023 T20 World Cup.
