[WATCH] Dinesh Karthik's blitzkrieg helps RCB surge to 196/8 against MI in IPL 2024 match

Dinesh Karthik went berserk in the death overs as he helped a struggling Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) get to a high total of 196/8 against Mumbai Indians (MI). The two sides squared off at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in the 25th match of the ongoing 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) on April 11.

Karthik was phenomenal throughout his time in the middle and racked up 53 runs in just 23 deliveries while remaining unbeaten. His innings included five fours and four sixes as he played a finisher's knock to help his side get the big runs in the final four overs.

After a well-made third-wicket partnership between Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar came to an end, Karthik joined hands with the RCB skipper. They stitched up a 45-run stand for the fifth wicket.

RCB lost a handful of wickets towards the end of the first innings. However, Dinesh Karthik made sure to play his role to perfection and add those crucial runs to his team's scoreboard.

Here's a highlight of Karthik's innings against MI:

RCB batters face Jasprit Bumrah's wrath

Mumbai Indians' ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah looked unstoppable as he took charge with the ball against RCB at Wankhede. He started by dismissing Virat Kohli for a record 16th time in the history of IPL. He went on to add Du Plessis, Mahipal Lomror, Saurav Chauhan, and Vijaykumar Vyshak's wickets to his kitty to complete a magnificent five-wicket haul.

The pace spearhead finished with figures of 5/21 in his four-over spell, bowling at an economy of 5.25. With that, Bumrah surged on top of the wicket-takers leaderboard and grabbed the Purple Cap, taking his tally to 10 wickets in five innings so far.

With his spell today, Bumrah also became the bowler with the highest number of wickets against RCB in IPL, taking his total to 29. He overtook Ravindra Jadeja and Sandeep Sharma, who are the joint second-highest wicket-takers against RCB with 26 scalps in their kitty.
