[Watch] "Do what a man needs to do" - Kieron Pollard apologizes to a fan after a ball hits her during MINY vs LAKR match in MLC 2024

MI New York (MINY) captain Kieron Pollard apologized to a fan who got struck on her arm with a ball through the six he hit during their game against the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) on Sunday, July 21. Pollard smashed a six over mid-wicket and ended up hurting the fan in the stands in the process.

After the game, Pollard was seen meeting the fan with teammate Nicholas Pooran and apologizing for his shot. He also gave her a memento in the form of a signed cap and apologized to her partner when they took a selfie.

Here's what he told her partner:

"Take care of her, okay? Do what a man needs to do."

Here's a video:

MINY chased down the target of 131 in 17 overs and in the process qualified for the Major League Cricket (MLC) playoffs.

Kieron Pollard's sizzling cameo helped MINY qualify

Rashid Khan's brilliant figures of 3/22 helped MI New York bundle out LAKR for just 130 in their first innings. Despite a fast start in the chase by Dewald Brevis, MINY were in a spot of bother as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and at one stage were 91/5.

However, just then, Kieron Pollard stepped up and produced a sensational cameo to be the difference between the two sides. He scored 33 runs off just 12 balls in a knock that included two boundaries and three consecutive sixes. It ensured that MI New York chased down the target with three overs to spare and, in the process, bettered their net run rate to that of Los Angeles Knight Riders.

That helped MINY seal the final qualification spot for the playoffs, where they will now be facing the Texas Super Kings in the Eliminator. Pollard's innings will have boosted the morale of the defending champions.
