[Watch] Dwayne Bravo sings an updated version of his champion song for Afghanistan after they reached semis of 2024 T20 World Cup

Afghanistan bowling coach Dwayne Bravo sang an updated version of his champion song for his team after they qualified for the semi-finals of the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Afghans beat Bangladesh in a must-win match by eight runs (DLS method) to reach the semis in a World Cup for the first time.

It is the biggest accomplishment for them to date in international cricket. They had a difficult path to the knockout stages as they were placed in group 1 during the Super 8 phase along with top teams like India and Australia. They began with a loss against India but made a stellar comeback, defeating the multi-time World Champions Australia.

Afghanistan then edged out Bangladesh narrowly in the final Super 8 match to advance in the tournament. Dwayne Bravo, who joined them as bowling coach for the World Cup, was elated with the team's performance. The former West Indies captain sang a special version of his famous champion song with the Afghan players in the dressing room. ICC gave a glimpse of it by sharing a video on their official Instagram handle.

"Glad to be in the semi-finals and I'm sure people back home are celebrating!"- Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan after win against Bangladesh

Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan revealed that it feels like a dream after making it to the semi-finals of the 2024 T20 World Cup following a hard-fought win against Bangladesh.

Reflecting on his team's performance and journey at the post-match presentation, Rashid said:

"It's something like a dream for us as a team, making the semi-finals! The belief started to come when we beat New Zealand. I think the only person who had us in his last four for the tournament was Brian Lara, so, we had a chat among ourselves that we can't let his prediction go wrong! We stayed at the crease with bat in hand, we knew it wasn't an easy pitch to bat on, so the idea was to bat the overs and get as many runs as we can."

Khan added:

"We were missing the quality in the fast bowling before, but today, our attack is more complete. It's not that they are genuinely fast, but the improvements are definitely there. Glad to be in the semi-finals and I'm sure people back home are celebrating!"

Afghanistan will face off against South Africa in the first semi-final of the 2024 T20 World Cup on June 26 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.
