[Watch] Faf du Plessis smashes 75* off 32 balls in Abu Dhabi T10 League 2024

South African batter Faf du Plessis showcased his batting brilliance by blasting a blistering fifty for Morrisville Samp Army against New York Strikers in the fifth game of the 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 League. The match took place on Friday, November 22, at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in the UAE.

The Strikers won the toss and chose to bowl first. Faf du Plessis took charge in the third over, hitting Akeal Hosein for a six and a boundary. However, his opening partner Sharjeel Khan struggled and was dismissed for 14 off 12 balls.

The 40-year-old reached his fifty in just 22 balls and formed an unbeaten partnership of 74 runs off 29 balls with Andries Gous for the second wicket. Faf remained unbeaten on 75 off 32 balls, striking five boundaries and six sixes.

Meanwhile, Gous finished at 41* off 16 balls, smashing three fours and four sixes, as Samp Army posted a total of 135/1 in their allotted 10 overs.

In response, the New York Strikers lost opener Evin Lewis for just four runs off five balls to Imad Wasim. Kusal Perera came out aggressively but was dismissed by Amir Hamza for 20 off nine balls, which included three fours and a six.

Zeeshan Abid (8), Donovan Ferreira (13), and Asif Ali (7) couldn't make a significant impact, while skipper Kieron Pollard fell for 18 off seven balls, with two boundaries and a six. Sunil Narine was dismissed cheaply for three, leaving the Strikers at 99 for seven after 10 overs, falling short by 36 runs.

Amir Hamza starred with the ball, taking three wickets for Samp Army, while Karim Janat supported with two as they secured their second consecutive win of the season.
