[Watch] Faf du Plessis takes brilliant catch running backward in CPL 2024
Faf du Plessis took a stunning catch in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 on Tuesday, September 10. The Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia, hosted the game between St Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders.
The incident took place during the 14th over of the Knight Riders’ chase of 188-run target. Noor Ahmad bowled a flighted delivery and Shaqkere Parris went for an inside-out shot but failed to connect it properly. The ball went towards the cover region and du Plessis ran backward to settle underneath it before holding onto the ball while falling onto the ground.

TKR beat Faf du Plessis' St Lucia Kings by 4 wickets in CPL 2024 clash
A clinical all-round show helped Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) beat St Lucia Kings by four wickets in the CPL 2024 clash on Tuesday.
Asked to bat first, the Kings put up 187-6 in their allotted 20 overs. Roston Chase top scored with 56 runs off 40 balls with the help of three sixes and two boundaries.
Meanwhile, skipper Faf du Plessis, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Johnson Charles chipped in with scores of 34 (26), 33 (29), and 29 (14), respectively. Sunil Narine and Waqar Salamkheil were the pick of the Knight Riders bowlers, returning with two wickets apiece.
In response, TKR chased down the target with five balls to spare. Shaqkere Parris starred with the bat, scoring 57 off 33 balls, including six sixes and one boundary.
Meanwhile, captain Kieron Pollard stayed unbeaten on 52 off 19 deliveries, comprising seven sixes to take his team past the finish line. Noor Ahmad and Matthew Forde bagged two wickets each for St Lucia Kings.
With the win, the Knight Riders jumped to the third spot on the points table with two wins in three games. On the other hand, the Kings dropped to fifth place with just two wins in four games.
