[Watch] Virat Kohli is amused as fan screams from a tree during victory parade
Team India stalwart Virat Kohli had an interesting encounter with a fan during the victory parade in Mumbai on Thursday (July 4). All the players and support staff members of the Indian cricket team participated in an open bus parade in Marine Drive in South Mumbai.
It was organized to celebrate the team's triumphant campaign at the recently concluded 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies. The Rohit Sharma-led side lifted the trophy by overcoming a tough challenge from South Africa in the final on June 29, marking India's first ICC tournament victory in 11 years. They have endured multiple heartbreaks over the past decade after emerging victorious in the 2013 Champions Trophy in England under MS Dhoni's leadership.
Fans gathered in huge numbers on Mumbai streets to commemorate the special occasion with their favorite cricketers. One of Virat Kohli's fans went overboard and climbed a tree to witness his favorite player from close quarters while they were on the bus. After spotting the fan on a tree near them, Kohli was seen informing his teammate Ravindra Jadeja about the same by pointing his hand.

"What we saw on the streets tonight is something I'm never going to forget in my life"- Virat Kohli
While speaking during the World Cup victory celebrations at the Wankhede Stadium, Virat Kohli thanked all the fans for their support and love. He said (as quoted by ESPNcricinfo):
"A big thank you to all the people who turned up in the stadium. What we saw on the streets tonight is something I'm never going to forget in my life. The last four days have been a rollercoaster of a ride."
He continued:
"As soon as we won the World Cup, we wanted to get out of Barbados, get back to India and celebrate with everyone. We got stuck in the hurricane, so it was an anti-climactic feeling. But since we've been back, it's been phenomenal."
