[Watch] Fans go crazy for a sneak peek of Virat Kohli at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai amid IND vs BAN 2024 1st Test
Former India captain Virat Kohli received a rousing reception from fans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai amid the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh. The crowd tried their best to get a sneak peek of Kohli as the batter walked out from one of the gates at the venue.
Notably, Kohli is one of the most followed athletes with 270 million followers alone on Instagram. The 35-year-old is one of the fittest cricketers and an inspiration to millions in India and foreign countries as well.
Watch Kohli’s fans’ reaction at Chepauk Stadium:
On the professional front, Virat Kohli failed to deliver with the bat in the first Test against Bangladesh. The right-handed batter departed for scores of six and 17 in his two innings. He was adjudged LBW in the second innings but decided against the review. The replays showed a faint inside edge before the ball hit the pads, which looked plumb, leading to wrong judgment from the modern-day legend.
“They should’ve played” – Suresh Raina on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s absence from Duleep Trophy
Former India cricketer Suresh Raina recently opined that Virat Kohli and India captain Rohit Sharma should’ve played the Duleep Trophy before making their return to Test cricket. Kohli, in particular, had also missed the five-match Test series against England earlier this year.
Raina said (via India Today):
“Yes, they should’ve played, you see we haven’t played red-ball cricket ever since the IPL ended. Since we’re heading towards a crucial Test series, one must play 4-day cricket and get used to how the wicket will behave on Day 4.
"I think they’re matured enough when they will regroup for 4-5 days and start practicing. Sometimes, family time is also importan,.” the cricketer-turned-commentator added.
Apart from Kohli, Rohit departed for scores of six and five, respectively.
Despite Kohli and Rohit’s failures, the hosts have set a 515-run target for Bangladesh in the first of the two-match Test series. Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and Ravichandran Ashwin scored centuries in the ongoing Test.
