[Watch] Fans in USA react with excitement on getting a glimpse of T20 World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma
Team India captain Rohit Sharma received a warm reception from fans in the USA, where he is attending a few events. He was last seen on the field during the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa on June 29 in Barbados.
India defeated the Proteas side and ended their 13-year World Cup trophy drought. Rohit became the third Indian captain to win the World Cup after Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni.
After returning to India, fans gave a rousing welcome to Rohit Sharma and his teammates. All the players also participated in a victory parade in Mumbai in front of thousands of fans in Marine Drive. Following the celebrations, Rohit traveled to the USA to attend some events.
An X user shared a video to give a glimpse of Rohit Sharma's popularity with fans in the United States. In it, Sharma could be seen exiting an arena while being surrounded by fans and their chants.

"I try and set an example for my colleagues"- Rohit Sharma's views on captaincy
In a recent interview with Aldar Experts Podcast, Rohit Sharma stressed the importance of leading from the front for a captain. The Indian captain opened up that he tries to walk the talk and set an example for his teammates.
Rohit said:
"For a leader, I think it’s important try and lead from the front, set an example for rest of your colleagues, your teammates. And for me it’s always been important that I’ve always carried myself in a way where I try and set an example for my colleagues."
On his leadership style, Rohit added:
"It is just not about what you do on the field, it is also about what you do off the field as well. I treat them like family, like friends, because as much as you’re part of this team, they share the equal responsibility and equal share in the team to be part of that team. So you got to make them feel homely, you have got to make them feel that you’re wanted here."
