[Watch] Finn Allen smashes a massive six on 99 to reach his century in MLC 2024 Challenger
San Francisco Unicorns opener Finn Allen hit a massive six to reach his century and got clean-bowled in the space of two balls in the Challenger match of Major League Cricket 2024 against Texas Super Kings.
He was batting at 99 against leg spinner Mohammad Mohsin, who looped up the first ball at a good length outside off. Allen didn't care and hit through the line, getting sublime timing behind it to clear long off with ease.

The next ball, Mohsin bowled a googly at a similar length and Allen, perhaps in a lapse of concentration, didn't read it and tried the same shot. The ball sneaked in the gap between his bat and pad and crashed on the stumps.
He got out for 105 but not before laying a brilliant foundation for the Unicorns, who reached 200 in the allotted 20 overs, after good contributions in the lower order.
"Probably the worst" - Finn Allen on his century
It was the first century for a San Francisco Unicorns player in their two-year-long history. Finn Allen started with fireworks in the powerplay itself but he needed a lot of luck too as the Super Kings dropped a couple of half chances and the in-fielders were sloppy enough to allow a few boundaries to go away. Even his partner, Jake Fraser McGurk enjoyed it.
So, when after the innings the presenters asked Allen where he ranked this 100 among his T20 exploits, the Kiwi said it was his "worst one".
"Probably the worst one," he said. "Definitely not my most fluent innings. Just wanted to stick around to get us to a good total. Spoke to Watto (head coach Shane Watson) bout going through the gears and I wanted to take my time. Got some luck early on. They have got a couple of really good spinners. Noor [Ahmad] bowled really well. He made it difficult."
The runs proved just enough as the Unicorns sneaked to a 10-run win.
