[Watch] First CSK-themed airplane takes off from Abu Dhabi to Chennai

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are one of the most successful franchises in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Among the top sides in the league, the franchise also has one of the top sponsors Etihad Airways, who are their official sponsor.

Etihad Airways is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It became the official sponsor of the Chennai-based franchise in 2024 and launched an exciting partnership as well. They revealed a brand new aircraft that is themed according to the Chennai-based franchise.

The aircraft's inaugural flight took place on Thursday, December 12, from Abu Dhabi to Chennai, India. It is designed with CSK's logo in its bright and bold blue and yellow colors. The specially themed aircraft's first flight comes as a historical moment for Indian cricket, for aviation, and for the city of Chennai.

The Chennai Super Kings posted a video on social media platform X, showing the first flight taking off from Abu Dhabi to Chennai.

"Here's the first flight of Yellove as it happened," they wrote in the caption.

CSK players Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, and Gurjapneet Singh can be seen in the video, which depicts the people on the flight waving the team flags as well.

CSK will aim for record sixth IPL title

Along with the Mumbai Indians, the Chennai Super Kings have won the Indian Premier League title as many as five times, making them one of the most successful teams in the league.

CSK won the IPL for the first time in 2010 and have won it four more times in 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. They failed to make the playoffs in the 2024 season but have assembled a good-looking squad ahead of the 2025 season.

No team has won the IPL trophy more than five times and should Chennai manage to win it once again in 2025, they could become the only team with a record six IPL titles.
