[Watch] Georgia Redmayne's acrobatic run-out helps London Spirit tie The Hundred Women's 2024 match against the Oval Invincibles
London Spirit wicketkeeper Georgia Redmayne completed a sensational run-out to secure her team a tie against the Oval Invincibles during their The Hundred Women's 2024 encounter. The match took place at the Lord's Cricket Ground on Sunday, August 4.
The Invincibles needed two runs to win from the final ball when Ryana MacDonald hit a back-of-a-length delivery from Danielle Gibson towards deep mid-wicket. Charlie Dean collected the ball while the two batters tried to complete the second run.
As MacDonald tried to scamper to the striker's end, Georgia Redmayne collected a rather wayward throw from Charlie Dean and dislodged the bails to find the batter just short of her ground. This meant that just one run was completed and the London derby ended in a tie.
Here's the video of the final delivery:
There is no concept of a Super Over in The Hundred. Only the Eliminator and the final have a Super-5 where the two teams will face off for a set of five deliveries each in case the scores are level.
London Spirit & Oval Invincibles share points in a low-scoring thriller
The Oval Invincibles won the toss and opted to bowl first at Lord's, trying to make the most of the conditions upfront. Marizanne Kapp was the pick of the bowlers for the Invincibles as she bagged four wickets and conceded just 11 runs in her 20 deliveries.
Deepti Sharma top-scored for the London Spirit with 44 off 34 balls and Eva Gray (18 off 12) provided some lusty blows towards the end to take their total to 113/9 in their 20 sets. At 69/2, it seemed like the Invincibles would cruise to the target.
However, Alice Capsey's wicket began an incredible collapse that reduced the Oval Invincibles to 82/6. Kapp scored 47 off 32 balls but was cleaned up by a brilliant yorker from Deepti Sharma just at the right time for the London Spirit.
The Oval Invincibles would be gutted to miss out on two points given the situation they were in at one stage. However, the two teams share a point each, with the Spirit and the Invincibles remaining on second and third in the points table, respectively.
