[Watch] Glenn Maxwell cleans up Jamie Smith with a peach in ENG vs AUS 2024 5th ODI
Australia spin bowling all-rounder Glenn Maxwell dismissed England middle order batter Jamie Smith with a peach in the ongoing ODI on Sunday, September 29. The match is being played at County Ground, Bristol.
Jamie Smith walked out following the dismissal of Harry Brook. He looked a bit rusty to start and had managed to score six runs. Glenn Maxwell, in the 28th over, gave the ball a good rip and got it to come back in. Smith, looking to punch off his backfoot, missed the ball completely as his stumps were rattled.
Take a look at the dismissal below:
Jamie Smith was dismissed on the fourth ball of the 27th over for 6 runs off 9 balls. His dismissal left England on 215 for four and Liam Livingstone replaced him at the crease.
Ben Duckett is dismissed after scoring his century in the ENG vs AUS fifth ODI
Stand-in captain Steven Smith won the toss and elected to bowl first in the final ODI of the five-match series. England had a great start with the bat, losing the solitary wicket of Phil Salt (45 off 27) in the powerplay as they registered 73/1 after 10 overs.
England then lost Will Jacks cheaply before Harry Brook (72 off 52) and Ben Duckett (107 off 91) stitched together a 132-run partnership. Brook was dismissed looking to go big, but Duckett went about business as usual, with England getting to 200 in 25 overs.
Duckett then completed his second ODI hundred at the venue before he became one of the three wickets to fall in quick time. Liam Livingstone (0 off 3), England's big hitter in the last game, was dismissed without troubling the scorers as Australia made a comeback into the contest.
Australia have picked up England's seventh wicket, with the scorecard reading 250/7 after Jacob Bethell's dismissal at the time of writing. The series is currently tied at 2-2.
