[Watch] Glenn Maxwell's plays an outrageous reverse swat to bring up his half-century in AUS vs NED 2023 World Cup clash
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell looked in his element against the Netherlands in the 2023 World Cup clash in Delhi. The 34-year-old played an outrageous reverse-swat off Bas de Leede's bowling and completed his half-century off only 24 deliveries.
The incident came in the 47th over of the innings as the Victorian was only four runs short of his half-century. De Leede delivered a full ball on leg as Maxwell changed his stance and reverse-swatted it way back into the stands.

The spin-bowling all-rounder had arrived at the crease just before the 40th over as Australia found themselves at 290-6, with David Warner departing for a brilliant 104. Soon after, Cameron Green also departed due to a run-out to leave the Men in Yellow in a pickle.
Glenn Maxwell breaks Aiden Markram's record for fastest World Cup hundred
Maxwell's 40-ball 100 shattered the record of Aiden Markram, who brought up his century off 49 deliveries against Sri Lanka in Delhi earlier in the tournament. The veteran ruined Bas de Leede's bowling figures by carting him for 28 runs, including three sixes. His 10-0-115-1 is now the most expensive bowling figures in ODI cricket.
Speaking to the host broadcaster after his 43-ball 106, the right-hander underlined the need to bowl very tight, given the fast outfield:
"Just about getting a read of the bowler. For those who bowl quick, my hands have to be faster. Some may go for six but generally, I'm trying to get it just over the infield. Netherlands saved a couple of certain boundaries. Could've been a better score but they were outstanding in the field. The ball seems to travel here."
The five-time champions slammed 131 runs in the last 10 overs as they set a steep 400 for the Dutch to win. Along with Warner's hundred, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith also made brisk half-centuries to put their side on track for their third win of the tournament.
