[Watch] Hardik Pandya loses his bat, but still hits a four in IND vs BAN 2024 1st T20I

Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya lost control of his bat during his knock against Bangladesh in the first T20I in Gwalior. However, despite losing grip on his willow, he still hit a boundary. A video of the incident is going viral on social media.

The Men in Blue defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the first T20I at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior on Sunday, October 6. Bowling first after winning the toss, Team India knocked over Bangladesh to 127 in 19.5 overs before chasing down the target in just 11.5 overs.

Pandya top-scored for the hosts in the chase with a whirlwind 39* off 16, a knock that featured five fours and two sixes. One of his boundaries came even as he lost his bat while attempting a big hit. In the 12th over, Pandya batter tried to whack a full-toss from Taskin Ahmed on the leg side. He lost his bat, which flew towards square leg, but the ball went past backward point and crossed the rope.

Incidentally on the previous delivery, the maverick right-handed batter haad played a no-look ramp shot over the keeper for four. A clip of that stroke also went viral on social media. Fittingly, Pandya hit the winning runs and in some style, slamming the penultimate ball of the same over for a maximum over midwicket.

Hardik Pandya added an unbroken 52 with debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy

Pandya and debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy added an unbroken 52 for the fourth wicket in the first T20I in Gwalior as the Men in Blue cruised to victory. While Pandya was excellent with his clean hitting, Reddy helped himself to a handy 16* off 15, including one six.

Earlier, India had got off to a flying start in their chase of 128. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma added 25 at a brisk pace, before Abhishek was run out for 16 off seven following a mix-up with his new opening partner.

Samson (29 off 19) and skipper Suryakumar Yadav (29 off 14) added 40 for the second wicket. While Smson hit six fours, Surya struck two fours and three sixes. Both set batters perished in their endeavor to play big strokes. Pandya then put the finishing touches to the chase with Reddy.
