[Watch] Haris Rauf charges towards a fan even as wife tries to stop him after Pakistan’s 2024 T20 World Cup debacle
Pakistan cricketer Haris Rauf was seen having a heated argument with a fan in the USA and the two engaged in a war of words. Rauf, who was accompanied by his wife, looked furious as he charged toward the fan while people around him tried holding and stopping him.
His family and friends’ attempt to stop him from picking up a verbal fight failed as he jumped the bushes to get face-to-face with the fan. As he walked up towards the fan, Rauf’s footwear came off but he didn’t stop.
Rauf’s wife as well as an official tried to stop the cricketer, but their efforts went in vain. The fan, eventually, walked past the scene. The incident took place in the USA and a video has been doing rounds on the internet.
Pakistan suffer shock exit from T20 World Cup 2024
Notably, Pakistan suffered a heartbreaking exit from the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. They suffered a defeat against co-hosts USA and arch-rivals India before bagging wins against Ireland and Canada.
The two victories did not help in their cause as the USA finished above them, in the second place, in the points table with five points to qualify for the Super 8 stage. India, on the other hand, remained unbeaten and topped the Group A table with seven points, including a point from an abandoned match.
Pakistan opened their World Cup campaign against the USA. The match turned out to be an close one as the two teams faced off in a Super Over for a result. After USA made 159 runs in 20 overs to level the scores, they put up a 19-run target for Pakistan to win in the Super Over.
Pakistani batters faltered at crucial junctures as USA’s Saurabh Netravalkar held them to 13/1 as the co-hosts clinched a historic win. The Men in Green then faced Rohit Sharma-led India in their next encounter, which again turned out to be a thriller.
Though Pakistan bowled out India for a paltry 119 in 19 overs of the first innings, their batters failed to do justice to the bowlers’ efforts as Jasprit Bumrah’s breathtaking spell helped India hold the opposition to 113/7 and win the game by a close margin of six runs.
