[Watch] Harry Brook grabs a one-handed stunner in slips to dismiss Mikyle Louis in ENG vs WI 1st Test

England batter Harry Brook took an exceptional diving catch at third slip in the first session of the first Test against the West Indies at Lord's on Wednesday, July 10. The brilliant piece of fielding ended debutant Mikyle Louis' stint at the crease after scoring 27 runs off 58 deliveries.

West Indies were negotiating the first session after being asked to bat first. The debutant dealt with the pace trio of James Anderson, Chris Woakes, and England's debutant Gus Atkinson with the new ball. He had to watch the debutant bowler dismiss skipper Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk McKenzie to reduce them to 36-2 in the 15th over.

England skipper Ben Stokes, bowling his fourth over, bowled an accurate delivery on off-stump, which the right-handed batter tried to fend off. However, he could only get an outside edge with his attempt. Initially, the ball looked like sneaking past the gap between the third slip and gully. But, Brook dove full length to his right to pluck the ball an inch off the ground and complete the catch.

Have a look at the stunning piece of fielding right here:

Harry Brook returns to the Test avenue in place of Jonny Bairstow at the No.5 position. He had missed the tour of India earlier this year due to personal reasons.

He is slowly emerging as one of the most reliable fielders in the England setup. he recently took a well-composed low catch in the Super 8 encounter against South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup. His exceptional juggling act catch during the 2023 edition of the Hundred to dismiss Jonny Bairstow is also fondly remembered.

England well on top after first session with Brook's catch being the difference

Ben Stokes and company have kept things tight all of the session. The pace quartet did not allow the West Indies batters to settle, and the wickets and regular intervals did not help their case.

As of writing, the visitors are placed at 61-3 Lunch. The duo of Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge are currently at the crease, unbeaten on 8 and 12, respectively.
