England captain Harry Brook slammed a six off Aaron Hardie to get to his half-century in the fifth and final ODI of the ongoing series against Australia in County Ground in Bristol on Sunday, September 29. The right-handed batter took 39 balls to reach his third successive fifty.
He also became the England ODI captain with the most consecutive fifties alongside Andrew Strauss. He is now only behind Eoin Morgan and Alastair Cook, who slammed four consecutive half-centuries during their ODI career.
He reached the milestone in the 21st over of England’s first innings. Aaron Hardie bowled a length ball around middle and leg and Brook whipped it over wide long-on to bring up his half-century.

Harry Brook scored 72 runs off 52 balls, comprising seven sixes and three boundaries before holing out to Glenn Maxwell off Adam Zampa's bowling. The right-handed batter had scored 87 and 110 not out in the last two ODIs against Australia. He has become the leading run-getter in the five-match ODI series, amassing 312 runs in five innings at an average of 104.
Brook now has the most runs as captain in a bilateral ODI series versus Australia. The Yorkshire batter broke the previous record held by erstwhile Indian skipper Virat Kohli (310 in 2019). MS Dhoni (285), Eoin Morgan (278) and Babar Azam (276) are also on the top five list.

At the time of writing, England were 211/3 after 27 overs, with Duckett (90 off 73) and Jamie Smith (4 off 7) at the crease. Aaron Hardie has been the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, picking up two wickets so far.
Australia won the first two ODIs seven wickets and 68 runs, respectively. The hosts then bounced back with a 46-run victory via the DLS method in the third match. England then won the fourth by 186 runs in a one-sided game.
England are eyeing for their first home series win against Australia since 2018, when they won by a 5-0 margin. Australia won the previous series 2-1 in 2020.
