[Watch] "Hasta bhi hu to log dar jaate hai!" - Sajid Khan jokes about his intimidating look after PAK vs ENG 2024 3rd Test
Pakistani off-spinner Sajid Khan attended a post-match press conference with left-arm spinner Nomani Ali after the Men in Green's nine-wicket win over England on Saturday, October 26. With their victory in Rawalpindi, Pakistan clinched the three-match home series by a 2-1 margin.
In the press conference, a journalist suggested that Sajid scared the batters and Noman picked up wickets from the other end, a strategy legendary Pakistani pacers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis used during their playing days. The 31-year-old joked that his look is such that people get scared even if he smiles.
Responding to the journalist's comments, Sajid said via ESPNcricinfo:
"Maine to koi daraya nahi hai yaar. Aap log kehte ho ke dara rahe ho, yaar aisi koi issue nahi hai. Allah ne look aisi di hai ke main waise hi hasta bhi hu to log dar jaate hai (I didn't scare anyone. You guys are saying I am scaring people, there is no issue like that. God's given me such a look, even if I laugh or smile, people get scared)."
It is worth mentioning that Sajid Khan was not part of Pakistan's squad for their Test series opener against England. The visitors won the match by an innings and 47 runs.
Sajid was added to the lineup for the remaining second and third Tests. He repaid the faith shown by the team management, claiming 19 wickets across four innings. The crafty spinner was named the Player of the Series for his stunning bowling exploits.
"You need to behave like this to lift the team's morale" - Sajid Khan on his on-field antics
Speaking in an interview after winning the Player of the Series award, Sajid Khan clarified that his on-field antics during the series were to lift the morale of his teammates.
He suggested that he is otherwise a funny person. Expressing his delight at Pakistan's Test series win, Sajid said via ESPNcricinfo:
"We have won the series and everyone performed well. There is no pressure, everyone wanted to perform and we have played domestic cricket on similar surfaces as well. Off the field, Kamran Ghulam is my best friend. I am a very funny person in the dressing room."
Besides his brilliant bowling performances, Sajid Khan also proved his worth with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 48 in his team's first innings of the Rawalpindi Test.
